The Beginning How does an ordinary girl with ordinary parents that has grown up in a communistic society end up becoming a model, an actress and co-founder of a software company? A long story really, but here are some background details: 1990 one year after the fall of the Berlin wall, the ZDF is coming to Potsdam to cast for their family series "Unser Lehrer Dr. Specht". Doreen shoots 13 episodes while learning for her A-levels and seriously thinks about becoming an actress. She then starts doing all kinds of things for a year, studies English, Spanish and Theatre Science, goes to New York, comes back and ends up running into a model scout from an agency called Berlin Models that at the time is famous for organizing Europe's biggest model contest "The Face". So, 1993 sees Doreen as second winner of "The Face" and she quite successfully starts an international model career. Despite travelling around the world and meeting some very interesting but also some very superficial people, the price for a jet-legged life and a home out of a suitcase is a great deal of loneliness. But then Doreen falls in love in Australia and starts getting her head back to acting and finally returns to Europe in 1995. Different productions follow in 1995 and 1996 and then the break-through comes with a lead part in the German TV action-series "Helicops" in 1997. And as for the software company, well, she thought that waiting for projects to come along and the telephone to ring, wasn't exactly what she fancies. So, why not fill the time in-between productions?
